ashypd51 Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 hi all.does anybody know if the vw mfd sat nav system will work in a galaxy - it seems to look a lot better than the ford 9000 vnr - bigger colour screen for starters.comments welcome. Quote
Guest TheBogyman Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Saw one in ebay Germany, the guy said yes it would fit a galaxy, hope this helps Quote
dulux72 Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Ford have version which is exactly the same. Factory fit only BUTYou can retro fit if you replace the fasia and buttons and buy an adaptor for the wiring loom. Oh and a GPS antenna. The most important thing to fit is the gala wire or sat nav doesn't update position correctly All items are available on ebay Quote
ashypd51 Posted November 1, 2005 Author Report Posted November 1, 2005 cheers guys, the gala wire is the speed sensor wire, ????? is this sourced from the abs speed sensors or from the back of the speedo.ive seen a few mfd's with d, dx or g prefixes relating to different specs of the sat navs, whats the difference between them? cheers Quote
Masked Marauder Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Purple wire behind the radio. Quote
wytonpjs Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Have just retro fitted the Ford RNS MFD using Ebay-sourced items - total cost just under Quote
wytonpjs Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Further to my last can I point you to the excellent new website at www.vwnavi.com which has just about everything you need to know (or more than you ever thought you could know) about this system. What it can do, what bits you need, how to fit it all together and how to set it up are all covered. Great site - shame I only just found it AFTER I did my install :) They even cover the duff NAVI connection leads that I now have first hand experience of.................. Enjoy :) :D Quote
El Dingo Posted December 25, 2005 Report Posted December 25, 2005 Yes, I also have tom tom 5 on a pda and road angel for my gps receiver (used in my company Audi), and yes, the pda (XDA2) locks up approx. every three weeks, requiring total restore and re-synch with my laptop. I bought the wife tom tom one, and put the suction mount in the a-pillar glass (not ideal, I know). Works a treat, but I'd still prefer a 'pukka' system. It's about the only optional extra our Galaxy doesn't have... :P Quote
